| This is the first of the wats (Buddhist temples) we saw in Thailand. Most wats include one or more of these towers called chedi ("JEHD-ee"). This one is in Chiang Mai. In this and all of the subsequent chedis you'll see here, there are ashes of the Thai dead. In the more glamorous chedi (of which this one is not) lie are the ashes of the deceased Thai kings. |
